Carjitsu is the latest weird sport the world didn’t know it needed. Carjitsu is described as “a unique fighting league where combatants battle inside the cramped confines of a sedan-sized automobile.” Fighters are allowed to utilize anything within the car to gain an advantage, even resorting to using seat belts to gain the upper hand!
It’s grown in popularity enough that New Jersey has approved it for gambling, and ESPN recently aired it for the first time on their Ocho broadcast.
Originally conceptualized by Russian grad student Vik Mikheev, who is pursuing a Ph.D. in mathematics at Kansas State University, Carjitsu has grown in popularity since its inception two years ago. Matches, initially filmed in a 2005 Toyota Scion in Missouri, now take place in various locations using different vehicles.
