Neil recently took to Twitter to respond to a report that he and and drummer Tommy Lee are bickering over details of a big reunion tour offer.
The report (which was not been substantiated by any other source) stated that the supposed $150 million tour contract is contingent upon Neil losing 40 pounds. Neil countered the weight-loss clause by insisting Lee go to rehab for alcoholism.
Neil says none of it is true.
"People these rumors are false," Neil said in the post. "I haven't spoken to any band member's [sic] since movie premiere. I had to cancel shows due to back problems which I am getting treatment now. There is no tension between me and Tommy. Don't believe anything from These so-called gossip sites. Keep Rocking"
Mötley Crüe performed its final concert in Los Angeles on December 31, 2015. Prior to the farewell tour, all four band members signed a contract assuring fans that the band would not perform together again as Mötley Crüe after that date.
The band members, bassist Nikki Sixx in particular, have been bullish regarding the contract's integrity. Even with the band members agreeing that working on the band biopic The Dirt helped rekindle their friendships, none of the four co-founders have publicly expressed a desire to tour again as a band.
Neil does not Tweet often and rarely attempts to obfuscate via social media. In September of 2018, he was the first member of the band to confirm that Crüe had reunited to record new music for The Dirt and also the first to clarify that there was no reunion tour planned.
While Neil continues to tour and perform Mötley Crüe material, Lee has largely given up live performing.
Guitarist Mick Mars has been teasing a solo project for years and suggested this summer that the record was near completion.
Sixx has a number of balls in the air, working on a "trilogy project" and a musical adaptation of his Heroin Diaries memoir. He has repeatedly shot down suggestion of a reunion, stating that the band members' fear their friendships would again deteriorate were they to go back on tour.
